The secret to long-lasting, God-given success/prosperity

1 Kings 3:5-14

Solomon asked God for an understanding heart to discern justice. In response, God unconditionally made him the wisest man ever and added to this, making him the richest and most honorable king in all his days. Seeking first the kingdom of God caused God to add all other things unto Solomon. Matt 6:33. We should seek the fruits of the holy spirit (Gal 5:22-23); to have a deeper walk with God; to know His will for our life as His thoughts towards us are of good and not evil, to give us a future and a hope, to bring us to an expected end (Jer 29:11). These should be our daily and ongoing priority in prayers.

BUT the lengthening of Solomon’s days was conditional! It was conditional on his obedience to God’s laws and commandments. God requires obedience just like David obeyed. 🤔

God has no problem blessing us tremendously in this life with wisdom, riches and honor. But this is often short-lived for many because we do not do our part to obey his laws and commandments. 🤔 🙌🏾

Looking at David’s life, he wasn’t sinless but he was always quick to repent (unlike Saul), continuously relied on God (unlike Saul) and his heart most importantly was right with God (unlike Saul) who sees not as man sees. David paid the price for his sins but God was always merciful in judgment and kept his promises to him, calling him “a man after my own heart”. How sweet!
